Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury will finally meet in the face tonight at Wembley Stadium before 94,000 people. This is boxing at its best.
The excitement surrounding this exciting all-English WBC heavyweight title of the world, which was the first of its type in 29 years, should have been a time to celebrate both men and the performance they will put on.
Lennox Lewis defeated Frank Bruno, a heavyweight opponent, with a seventh round TKO at Cardiff Arms Park on October 23, 1993.
Unfortunately Fury's relationship to Daniel Kinahan, a Dubai-based mobster, has made the most of the hype and anxiety. Kinahan has had his assets frozen in UAE.
Thankfully, in the bizarre way that only boxing can manage, when the lights go out, the anthems play and fighters enter, and the opening bell goes, all suspicions, whispers, and allegations will dissipate for a maximum 36-minute period of gladiatorial action.
A similar fight in Cardiff took place almost three decades ago between Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis. It was a scene that gripped the nation.
The relationship between them remains frosty today, a genuine and respectable needle that has not been lifted by the words exchanged during Lewis' seventh round win in KO.

Britain has been blessed with iconic pugilistic moments ever since, thanks to Carl Froch’s spectacular retirement punch in 2014 that ended his two-fight rivalry against George Groves.
Anthony Joshua almost sold the English football home out single-handed when he beat Wladimir Klotschko there in 2017 as well as Alexander Povetkin in the same hallowed ground in 2018.
It is an unforgettable experience to see two British and English-speaking boxing stars clash at the home team of the England football team.
Frank Warren, the promoter, set a new world record for the PS31million purse bid. Also, the ticket sales broke the record despite the fact that the undercard was about as thin and skinny as an orexic flyweight.
BETTING SPECIAL - GET FURY AT 30/1 OR WHYTE AT 100/1The expectation is that both men will live up to it.
Undefeated Fury, despite his 6ft 9in height and being blessed with speed and agility, has been dropped six times during his career. AJ and Povetkin have stopped Whyte and he has had wars against Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker and others.
These two former villains share nearly 40st muscle and spite, making them almost as attractive as their superhuman abilities.
So, whether Fury is right or wrong, once the dust settles on Fury's connections to an organised crime syndicate, which allegedly floods British sport with drugs money, there will only be two men left standing in a ring fighting for their lives.
You can get a lot of cash as well as a few garish gold belts.
However, even the most decrepit cynic shouldn't be able convince you otherwise. For these 36 minutes, both men will be thrown into an amphitheatre or bearpit and will continue to slash for survival and entertainment.
This night might make you proud to be British again.
