The Gypsy King retained his crown with an emphatic knockout in October 2013. Unification against Anthony Joshua was also planned.
AJ lost his title defense to Oleksandr Uzyk, and Fury is now focused on Dillian Whyte.
Although Whyte was formally named mandatory challenger by the WBC on December 7, the fight has been plagued with difficulties ever since.
The undefeated 6ft 9in ace asked Whyte for around PS5m to stand aside and let him fight Usyk.
But Whyte's men have worked hard to get Fury's belts. They look like they have succeeded.
FOUR deferred purse bids were received for the clash. The final auction is now set for Mexico City on Friday January 28. Fury suggested that the negotiations were over and Whyte had won.
The Morecambe giant boomed, "I can't wait for Dillian Whyte to punch my face right in!"
"I will give him the best hiding place he's ever experienced in his entire life."
"Dillian Whyte: Train hard, you're going to be annihilated!"
When is Tyson Fury vs Dillian Howte?
- There is currently no date confirmed for the all-British showdown.
- However, if it is made, it is likely to be in the late March/April of this year.
- Fury has not fought in the UK in over a year since 2018, when he faced Sefer Seferi, Manchester, and Francesco Pianeta, Belfast.
Where is the fight taking place?
Although it is most likely that the event will take place in Cardiff or Manchester, details are not yet known.
Fury would make his return to the North West if he made it back to his roots three years after his win over Seferi.
The fight would be a great event for UK fighter fans. It is likely that the bout will take place at a more friendly time than the wilder 5am GMT epics.
What TV channel will it be and what live stream?
Again, there are no details about the fight at this time.

The fight will almost certainly be a pay per view event, and the platform on which it is shown will depend on the promoter.
Fury vs Wilder 3 costs PS24.95 to view on BT, and we expect something similar for this all British title clash.
Eddie Hearn stated that Tyson Fury doesn't care who promotes the fight.
"He will think only about who has the most money. If I were a fighter, I would simply be interested in seeing who has the most money to fight.
"But Dillian can fight on another promoters show, and we will be there supporting him and behind him, but he wants it to be on a Matchroom program."
They said it!
Tyson Fury "They are all only workouts for me, and I'll destroy any man that comes infront of me."
"It's due an easy fight anyway. [Dillian Whyte] really is ideal.
To be sincere, I want a heavy bag on my legs. He's the ideal candidate."
Dillian Whyte "Fury was mandated to fight with me twice.
"He requested the WBC Diamond belt to fight me. But he ran away when they said yes. He just keeps making excuses.
"Hopefully, he doesn't have any other choice. What is he going to do about it? Toss the belt in the trash and get more money than he spent fighting Wilder.
"[Of Course] I'll finish him."
