Dillian Whyte will get his chance at the WBC heavyweight title by Tyson Fury, who has been humdingering with Deontay wilder.
Fury, 33 years old, jumped twice off the ground before securing a thrilling knockout victory over Wilder in their trio bout on Saturday night.
Dillian Whyte will finally fight for WBC heavyweight title, if he beats Otto Wallin
The champ will now be required to face Otto Wallin, the victor in Whyte's fight.
However, the fight is contingent upon Fury not being able to make a deal with Oleksandr Usyk within 30 days.
Anthony Joshua has now officially exercised his rematch clause against the Ukrainian and the winner of Whyte-vs Wallin is guaranteed the next shot at undisputed WBC strap.
Eddie Hearn, AJ's promoter, told Maya Jama on Saturday night: "Today, we officially triggered Oleksandr Usyk fight rematch, which will be seen early next spring.
"Back in the game, and we're hoping for him to be three-time world champ.
"Some niggles in camp AJ, Usyk had a bad haircut, it's officially triggered. We'll sit down and discuss K2 Promotions, and I believe March is when we'll see that fight.
BETTING SPECIAL GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH"This was a disappointing loss for a pound-for pound great.
"We don’t need to get back into the game with 10-rounders. He needs to rip off Usyk's belts."
Bob Arum, Fury's copromoter, revealed this week that he is interested in a Battle of Britain between Fury & Whyte.
He said to iFL TV, "That could have been a big fight for Tyson," especially if it was held in the UK.
"That's not impossible, Dillian Whyte can fight Tyson Fury and Wilder [or] whoever wins."
The 89-year old doesn't see Whyte surpassing Wallin, the Swedish slugger.
He stated that "Last time [Whyte] had been mandatory, he fought Povetkin to get knocked on the ass."
"I expect Wallin to win Whyte so I don't even consider it."
Whyte isn't giving up on his long-awaited fight with Fury even though he is within reach.
According to the 33-year old, Tyson Fury said that he had not spoken with anyone from his team about any fight.
"If he were serious, he would have sent email or phone calls and we'd been talking.
"If he were serious, I would have waited for him rather than fighting until December.
"But these are big fights and big fights can't be made in a matter of months.
"There are many things that must happen."
