World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury faces setbacks in expanding his home

Tyson Fury, the reigning world heavyweight boxing champion, has hit another roadblock in his plans to build a £4million mansion. This time, the setback comes from concerns about birds flocking to his Cheshire property and posing a potential hazard to nearby jets.

Bat Drama Forces Change of Plans

Fury had initially hoped to demolish a house on the site to make way for an extension to his existing eight-bedroom home. However, those plans were abandoned after bats were discovered roosting in the loft. Instead, the boxer aimed to add a basement music room, games area, breakfast and garden rooms, and a cinema to his property.

Flight Safety Concerns

Manchester Airport's safeguarding authority has raised concerns about the potential attraction of birds to the site. They stated that if cherry trees are planted or if there is any open water, including swimming pools, it could draw birds to the area. To mitigate this risk, the authority insists that only sterile or rarely-fruiting trees be used.

Preventing Bird Strikes

The safeguarding authority's primary concern is "flight safety" and "bird strike avoidance." Birds being sucked into aircraft engines or colliding with windscreens can lead to serious accidents. To address this, the authority has called for "robust measures" to be taken to prevent hazardous bird species from being attracted to the property.

Additional Restrictions

In addition to the bird-related concerns, Fury is also prohibited from using exterior uplighting that could potentially distract pilots.

Aerial Images Reveal Current State of the Property

Aerial images of Fury's property show a need for significant improvement. The site appears cluttered with used cars and litter, presenting a less-than-ideal image for the world champion.

Fury and his partner Paris currently reside in a £1.7million home in Morecambe, Lancashire, along with their six children. The move to the new mansion would bring Fury closer to his brother Tommy, a professional boxer, and his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, who live in a nearby £3.5million mansion.
