Contracted Backup Fighter
Oleksandr Usyk has a replacement opponent ready to step in if Tyson Fury pulls out of their upcoming super-fight. The undefeated champions were scheduled to face off in the heavyweight division's first four belt undisputed title decider on February 17.
Postponed Bout and Cash Forfeiture
However, Fury had to withdraw due to a severe cut during training, leading to the fight being rescheduled for May 18. Both fighters have agreed to forfeit £10 million of their own money if they withdraw from the bout.
Backup Plan Revealed
Usyk's trainer, Sergey Lapin, revealed that Filip Hrgovic is the backup opponent lined up to replace Fury if needed. Lapin expressed confidence that the fight will go on, with or without Fury's participation.
Challenges for Fury
Lapin taunted Fury, suggesting that facing Usyk will be a significant challenge for the British fighter. He highlighted Usyk's skills and experience, hinting at potential difficulties for Fury in the ring.
