Security intervened to push the Japanese star away from the boxing legend.

He met his new foe, 30-year-old Joey on Tuesday in Hawaii as he promoted their September 25 match at Japan's Saitama Super Arena.

Both fighters were very close during their fight. Mayweather's bodyguard shoved Asakura when the Japanese star became too close to him.

Following a press conference, the 50-0 boxing legend and the 16-3 fighter exchanged a nervous stare down.

They were able to get up close and personal with Mayweather, but Asakura was a little too close for Mayweather.

Asakura was clearly upset by the actions of Asakura's bouncer, who then shoved Asakura's rival away. The American then sat back and stared into Asakura's eyes.

Since his 2017 retirement, Mayweather has been in three exhibition bouts.

They were up against Tenshin Naukawa, a featherweight kickboxer, at 23. Logan Paul, 27, was their YouTuber and former sparring partner Don Moore, 27.

He will now face the Japanese ace who is confident that he can deliver a surprise later in the month.
