TYSON FURY vs Anthony Joshua escaped our notice and Terence Crawford vs Errol Spencer is a legend but the fistic Gods have finally gifted Amir Khan vs Kellbrook in 2022 so stop dreaming!
British boxing has many bright prospects. There are a lot of new pros starting to make a name for themselves.
There were many dramatic moments in this year's 2014
Already there are tantalizing bouts like Liam Williams vs Chris Eubank Jr. and Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall, so here SunSport offers a few more bouts that we can dream about coming to fruition.
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano - Undisputed lightweight
The 35-year old Irish icon performed her mandatory defense on December 11, and Serrano won her tune up on December 18. This deal is now for April.
Madison Square Garden will also host the fight for Taylor's undisputed lightweight crowns.
The Olympic hero of Ireland and the two-weight queen of Puerto Rico will be facing the pioneer from Puerto Rico, 33, who has won world titles in an astonishing SEVEN divisions.
This fight will determine the careers of both female fighters. And unlike many other female fights, there is real animosity between the fighters and the teams.
Jake Paul, a YouTube celebrity boxer, is Serrano’s new promoter. He will add fireworks to the event for good or ill.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury - undisputed heavyweight
This could have been Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Howte. We really want to see an undisputed heavyweight champion.
We were teased, promised, and then disappointed.
It is certain that anyone who holds Fury's WBC and Usyks WBA, IBF, and WBO belts during the summer must fight each other.
Boxing forms, especially for heavyweights, tell you that the boxer always beats the puncher in all subsequent matches.
Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, and even Anthony Joshua's rerun victory over Andy Ruiz Jr all prove this point. It is difficult to imagine how AJ will avenge his defeat to the Ukraine southpaw.
Dillian Whyte is 6ft 9in tall and switch-hitting Fury is hard to imagine so let's just assume Fury vs Usyk. There will be instant rematch clauses, controversial draws and a Fury-vs. Fury showdown.
Conor Benn vs David Avanesyan - welterweight
Benn, 25, who is rapidly improving, insists that he is ready to win a world title shot. Eddie Hearn, his promoter, says he still needs two more tests.
Benn has eschewed English, British, and European titles to date. However his most recent form indicates that this has not affected his education in any way.
The top of the welterweight heap is where the real crime happens. Yordenis Ugas, Terence Crawford and Errol Spence are just a few of the potentials.
Hearn wants Benn to fight the brilliant, but unpredictable Adrien Broner. However, Floyd Mayweather's protege is known for being a bit flakey.
It is unlikely that Benn wins will convince his doubters. They will point out Broner's inactivity, personal problems and his career woes.
Benn would love to meet Ava, the European champ, who is fresh and in-form at 33.
We need to see the Ilford ace have all the confidence and momentum to win it, but his team must also believe in him by challenging him.
Sunny Edwards vs Julio Cesar Martinez -- IBF and WBC unified flyweight
This potential bout is almost certain to fail because of the amount of talent, heat, skill, and backstory involved.
Flyweight is often overlooked due to lack of characters and big KOs, but these boys are bucking the trend.
Edwards, the South London genius who baffles his opponents with his talents and is the IBF World Champion, is Edwards.
Martinez, the Mexican banger, was poised to defeat Sunny's brother Charlie in 2019. He shamefully whipped him while he was lying on the ground. This made it a no-contest. Martinez also later tested positive for banned substances.
Martinez still holds Charlie's WBC title, so it would be an unification to determine the No1 position in the division. The maestro vs. the monster? Please.
Lawrence Okolie vs Mairis Briedis - WBO and IBF unified cruiserweight
Hackney's WBO Cruiserweight Champion of the World wants to unify the division at 14st 4lbs before jumping up to join stablemates such as Anthony Joshua or Derek Chisora.
Latvian Briedis (36), holds the IBF belt and is considered the man to beat ever since Usyk cleared the entire weight class and moved up.
Okolie wouldn't have had many backers a few years ago, but his improvements under Shane McGuigan are numerous.
Sauce, the unbeaten champion, has destroyed almost all 17 of his victims with his right hand while Usyk couldn't stop Briedis in his one loss.
This will be the decisive fight, which may end both the careers of the men in the division, Okolie's in Okolie's and veteran Briedis.
Josh Taylor vs Terence Crawford WBO welterweight title
Josh Taylor may have the most impressive CV in world boxing, so it seems absurd to continue trying to force new challenges on the undisputed superlightweight king.
The Edinburgh Ace must defend his titles against Jack Catterall, Manchester's mandatory challenger in February.
He can then vacate his belts after completing the course, gain a few pounds, and hunt the mega-fights.
We can only dream of WBO 147lbs King Crawford clashing with Crawford, a brilliant WBO fighter.
Hamzah Sheeraz vs Bradley Skeete - super-welterweight
The red-hot, undefeated HamzahSheeraz was supposed jump from prospect to candidate on December 4, when he beat the respected but inactive Bradley Skeete.
22-year-old Super-welter Sheeraz has traveled to California for his training camps, while Skeete recently returned to freezing Sheffield.
Although it was supposed to be a simple change of guard, Skeete outboxed Ilford's star and appeared on track to win a decision.
Skeete was kneeling when Sheeraz, an extremely polite and respectful man got too excited.
Referee Steve Gray should've ended the contest immediately - with either a no-contest, or disqualification. Skeete was not in a fit state to continue. He was stopped shortly after.
Sheeraz apologized and offered Skete a rematch. It would be a great learning fight for him.
We hope to see the rematch, Skete deserves another payday, a chance at redemption, and Sheeraz can get that critical experience that was likely lacking the first time.
