Punk, real name Phil Brooks, challenged Darby Allin for a match at All Out's pay-per view event. The match is set for September 5.
Straight Edge's superstar quit the WWE in 2014, and signed for UFC to confirm his switch from MMA.
Punk was defeated by Mike Brown and Mickey Gall in just two fights.
Despite his retirement from MMA, the American seems to still be present at the gym he used to train at, which is headed by Duke Roufus, an MMA coach.
Punk was pictured with Rofus Black and Black. Black is currently signed with AEW. Vega is the WWE diva who recently resigned with Vince McMahon.
For months, rumors of Punk's move from AEW were circulating. Finally, he was revealed in Chicago.
Tony Khan, AEW boss, said on Dan Le Batard’s podcast that "I believe this was our number-one best weekend ever."
It was number one in many metrics. On Friday night, we set a record for attendance at the United Center for the largest number of fans ever. This was in support of AEW Rampage and the debut by CM Punk.
"We broke every social metric. ESPN said that the traffic they received was beyond what anyone could have imagined.
"It was, in fact, the highest traffic on any social post they had since May (which includes the summer Olympics, and the NBA Finals).
"The amount of interest in CMPunk returning to wrestling is unheard of in the wrestling world, or in sports in general.
It's huge for us. It's huge to everyone here, and it's huge to all our fans...the First Dance was just an enormous hit for us in every sense.
