JORGE MASVIDAL called Leon Edwards a coward and promised to 'END' him at UFC 269. As they work to settle their feud,
Three years after brawling backstage at UFC London, the welterweight competitors will be putting their bragging rights on the line.
Jorge Masvidal called Leon Edwards a "coward"
Masvidal, 36, said Edwards, 30 would be 'run for dearlife' in the Octagon and mocked Edwards for the attack three-years ago.
The MMA Hour interviewed him and he said, "I'm going try to do everything I can to end this person."
"Leon is going to do everything in his power to do what he has always done -- put on his track shoes and make it a track meet and run. Run for your life.
"So I don’t care how grudge-match it is or what he has to say, the man’s a coward.
"He's going throw punches, run, and get on his bicycle and run, and run, and run.
"I'll cut off the ring eventually and I will land the blows I need on him, slow him to a crawl, and then I'm going take him out.
"But don’t expect too much from him in the fight. I can assure you that he will hit-and-run.
Masvidal returns after two consecutive defeats to Kamaru Usman (welterweight champion), the latest being a brutal knockout in May.
Edwards has never been defeated in ten fights or six years. He last beat American star Nate Diaz (37), in June.
He is the No1 contender to the title. It will be contested at UFC 268 in November 6, in a rematch between Usman (34), and Colby Covington (33).
To settle their differences after the infamous melee, Edwards agreed to fight Masivdal.
He had defeated Gunnar Nelson on his undercard, while Masvidal beat Darren Till in main-event.
Edwards made a passing comment as his divisional opponent was being interviewed. This sparked the fight.
Masvidal recalled the incident and said, "I'm here doing mine own interview, doing what I want."
"I just got Fight of the Night and I just got Knockout of the Night. Edwards, why are you ruining our interview?
"This is my chance to shine, you're trying s to steal it, you're trying s In your hometown, nobody cares about you.
"You had a fight that night. Nobody was talking about it because it was so boring. He's a clout chaser.
"That's always been what he was. I chose this sport because I love it. I love fighting, and I love competing.
"This guy started the sport to maybe score a first date with a chick.
"It's all going on December 11th."
