McGregor, 33 years old, would be the UFC's first-ever champ in three divisions.
His two last fights were at lightweight. He lost to Dustin Poirier in a knockout. Then he suffered a broken tibia seven months later.
McGregor confirmed that he will be jumping back up to welterweight, and he called out the 34-year-old No1 Usman.

"I feel confident against Usman. He is a jab-happy, orthodox wrestler who has no submissions whatsoever.
"What is he going do? Where's the danger?" He isn't dangerous to me, and his ground and pound aren't too strong.
"Plus, he's on an older side. Plus the world (title), is to be taken again.
"The Triple Crown, No-one has ever achieved three knockouts at the same weight in three weight divisions as I have.
"But nobody has ever won three UFC world championships across three divisions as I have, so we will also do that if this fight takes place."
