After working part-time since 2010, STIPE MIOCIC was sworn in as a Westlake firefighter.
The former UFC heavyweight champion spent the past twelve years helping to light blazes and simultaneously conquering the Octagon.
After spending 12 years fighting fires, Stipe Miocic, a former UFC heavyweight champion, is now a full time firefighter.
Miocic was made a full-time firefighter, raising questions about whether his UFC career has ended.
Although Miocic isn’t officially retired, the 39 year-old star hasn’t fought since Francis Ngannou knocked him out at UFC 260 in March 2021.
He has since made the most out of his spare time and upgraded from part-time firefighter to full-time.
Cleveland19 reports that Miocic was tested in "several rounds" before he was sworn in to the Westlake Fire Department of Ohio.
Dennis M. Clough, the mayor of Westlake, said that it was a historic day.
He was previously part-time at Valley View Fire Department.
He might also be happy to have changed departments, after he was forced to clean the Valley View station toilets after his fights.
Jamie Meklemburg, pal of Jamie Meklemburg, told ESPN in 2018: "We make certain that his first shift following his fights is he knows that we're going have him clean the toilets.
"He tried to avoid it but we keep that for him."
Valley View's former colleagues travelled all over the globe to see Miocic fight. They also saw him win the heavyweight title in Brazil in 2016.
He is 6'4" tall and has won 20 and lost four MMA bouts. Notable victories include Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, and Daniel Cormier.
Ngannou was also defeated by Miocic when they first met in 2018.
Ngannou retaliated against Miocic last year, stealing the heavyweight title.
