ALJAMAINSTERLING has been ejected from his UFC 267 rematch against Petr Yan on Fight Island.
Sterling vs Yan 2 was to be the co-main event on the 11th annual pay-per-view promotion card.
Aljamain Sterling's UFC 267 match with Petr Yan was cancelled
due to a neck injury.
However, a problem with the neck of the bantamweight champion has caused him to withdraw.
MMA Fighting reported the news first, and SunSport confirmed it later with multiple sources.
It is believed that Yan's reign as 135lb King ended in March. A replacement has not been yet found.
MMA Junkie claims that the UFC is looking to add an interim title to the mix.
Yan was frustrated and reacted by tweeting a previous claim that Sterling would withdraw from their rematch.
The Russian also tweeted the following: "Told You"
Yan continued with a GIF from Nate Diaz’s memorable "I'm not surprised that mothferf s" post-fight interview.
He told RT, "You all know that [Sterling] ran away like a sneaky coward.
"I'm not going to wait and watch him." "I am going to fight."
Yan sent an email to the UFC brass saying, "Give me any fighter top-five, top-7, top-10."
"Anyone who is worthy to fight for the belt, and I will get it done."
Yan's reign of bantamweight king ended at UFC 259, March thanks to a fourth-round stoppage by a doctor.
Sterling couldn't continue because he was badly injured by Yan's illegal knee. Yan thought he had made the best of it.
UFC 267 will be held on Yas land Abu Dhabi on Saturday October 30.
The main event will feature a fight for the light-heavyweight title between Jan Blahowicz, the current champion, and Glover Teixeira, the former title challenger.
