Boxing Rivals Set for Epic MMA Rematch in Two-Fight Series

Unprecedented Showdown

Boxing rivals Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields are gearing up for an unprecedented two-fight series that will include bouts in both boxing and MMA.

History of Rivalry

The rivalry between Marshall and Shields dates back to their amateur days, with Marshall being the only one to defeat Shields in the ring. Shields later secured a victory in their mega-fight at the O2 Arena.

Transition to MMA

Despite talks of a boxing rematch falling through, the two fighters have now signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and are preparing for a blockbuster MMA bout.

CEO's Confirmation

PFL CEO Peter Murray confirmed the plans for the rematch, stating that both fighters are committed to excelling in both boxing and MMA. The organization aims to provide flexibility for its athletes to pursue their goals.

Exciting Prospects

Shields, with a 2-1 record in the cage, recently defeated Kelsey DeSantis in Saudi Arabia. Marshall is set to make her MMA debut against Mirela Vargas in a homecoming event in Newcastle.

Women's Boxing Stars Making Waves

With the addition of seven-weight boxing champ Amanda Serrano to the PFL roster, Murray believes that these women will inspire others to make the transition from boxing to MMA. Serrano, along with Shields and Marshall, are poised to lead the way for female fighters in combat sports.
