CHARLES OLIVEIRA's many wars in the gym helped him get through the adversity he experienced in his title defense against Dustin Poirier.

Charles Oliveira kept his lightweight title in UFC 269's main event
He was still in trouble after the dominant Poirier dropped him twice with a shocking 56 head strikes.
Oliveira, however fought through the storm to win the second round. He then won the third. Head coach Diego Lima believes that this victory was possible because of the wars he had at the Sao Paulo branch Chute Boxe.
Lima stated to SunSport immediately after the fight: "I'm very happy about the performance." It was extremely difficult.
"But that's the way he does it at work all the time. It's a constant war.
"He does that at the gym every day. You saw the results.
Lima was proud to see Oliveira (32), embody the warrior spirit Chute Boxe fighters were known for.
Do Bronx's long-time coach smiled outside the T-Mobile Arena and said, "I'm very proud."
He is very proud that Chute Boxe was made of steel. He also has a tattoo that depicts Chute Boxe.
"We are very proud to have him, and it's an honor to walk beside his side."
Oliveira will be defending his lightweight strap for the second time with Justin Gaethje, former interim titleholder and fan favorite.
Although a date has not been set for the bout, SunSport believes it will take place in May or Juni.
Gaethje had called the soft-spoken Brazilian quitter during the preparations for his maiden title defense, but he has since changed his mind.
Oliveira doesn’t care about the opinions of the Highlight reel human – who had a front row view for his tenth win.
The UFC 269 post-fight press conference saw the submission specialist from Sao Paulo say: "Listen, it doesn't matter. I'm here to do it.
"I'm not online, I'm on Twitter, I don't use Facebook to show people what is happening."
"I'm here, and I'm the champion. I have this belt. I'm going to keep defending it no matter what people say. I'm gonna do me."
