COLBY COVINGTON warned Jorge Masvidal that he had'seven days to live' ahead of their UFC 272 grudge match.
The welterweight rivals became training partners, roommates, and close friends before becoming bitter enemies.
Jorge Masvidal was told by Colby Covington that he had'seven days to live' in advance of UFC 272
.
They will also be putting their bragging rights on the line at Las Vegas to end their toxic feud.
Covington began the pre-fight trash talking in a sinister fashion in episode 1 of UFC's Embedded series.
He stated: "Masvidal you are a dead man walking. You've got seven more days to live. Enjoy those last seven days."
Three years of accusations and bad mouthing have accumulated, but it will soon end when the octagon door closes.
Covington said: "My mindset going in to this fight is, [I] want to hurt him really badly, he has ran his mouth enough about my character and told some false lies to the media.
"He tried to conjure up the narrative that I didn’t pay coaches, which is the greatest lie I’ve ever heard."
"But he lies, he is a criminal, and he is a thug. So, I want him to be hurt badly.
"He has not only backstabbed me; he's also backstabbed his family and a lot people who are close to him."
"So, I'm going to correct this and the Universe is going to be very pleased with what I do next weekend on pay per view."
These two former title challengers used to be at each other's throats and plotted for total dominance in the UFC side by side.
Even Covington (33), admits that he didn't see the dramatic fallout with Masvidal (37) coming.
He stated, "It's insane. I didn't imagine in my wildest dreams that we would reach a point where we'd be at which you know we are better enemies."
"We discussed taking over the globe together and his plan for it was street Judas.
It's bittersweet. One, it's great that I beat this guy up. On the other hand, it's like what could've.
"It's going be fun punching him in the face, and making him eat all of the words."
