Long-Awaited Honor
Irish UFC star Conor McGregor is celebrating a major milestone in his career: achieving a black belt in jiu-jitsu. This accomplishment has been a dream of McGregor's since 2013, and he finally received the honor from his long-time coach John Kavanagh.
A 20-Year Journey
McGregor took to social media to express his gratitude and excitement about earning his black belt. He thanked Kavanagh and his teammates for their support throughout his incredible journey, which spanned 20 years of hard work and dedication.

Reaching Life Goals
With two UFC belts already on his mantel, McGregor has now accomplished another one of his life goals by becoming a black belt in jiu-jitsu. Although he is not yet a hall of famer, McGregor is expected to earn that honor when he eventually retires from the sport.
Next Fight and Testing Concerns
Despite breaking his leg in his last fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor is determined to return to the octagon. His next opponent is expected to be Michael Chandler, whom he coached alongside on The Ultimate Fighter. However, McGregor's comeback is currently on hold as he is not in compliance with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing protocol. Unless granted an exemption, he would need to undergo six months of clean USADA testing in order to be eligible to compete again.

Training Hard for the Comeback
Despite the testing setback, McGregor is focused on his training and preparing for his return to the UFC. Fans eagerly await his comeback, and McGregor is determined to continue his legacy as one of the sport's most iconic fighters.
