Conor McGregor, a future UFC Hall of Famer, praised his selflessness.
Conor McGregor went to war twice with Nick's younger brother Nate.
Although Nick was reserved, Nick made the trip a secret. However, it quickly became the talk of MMA after a worker at a hospital shared photos of Nick's visit.
McGregor saw the photos and was quick to praise Nick's kind gesture.
McGregor tweeted the photo of the oldest Diaz brother, and wrote: "Real fighting hero."
McGregor's tweet was quickly retweeted by MMA fans, one of them saying, "That's great of you to recognize him after you f***ed up his brother countless times."
Another one said, "Real recognizes real."
Another said, "Game recognize game."
One commented: "True legends of the sport."
McGregor and Nate, both 33 and 37, were part of two of the most memorable UFC fights in 2016.
Favorite Nate won their first encounter at UFC 196. He submitted The Notorious with a second round rear-naked choke after 11 days notice.
A few months later, the pair rekindled their rivalry at UFC 202 where McGregor won via majority decision after a five-round thriller.
MMA fans long for the pair of them to fight in a trilogy blockbuster, but Nate doesn't want to decide in a series.
Adam's Apple was recently informed by the Stockton slugger: "Not right at this moment. He has a lot to do."
McGregor is currently in the final stages in recovering from the severe broken leg sustained in his fight with Dustin Pourier in July.
Nate has not been in the octagon since the defeat to Leon Edwards at UFC 263 but has been aching to finish the last fight on his contract with the MMA fighter.
