MICHAEL CHANDLER thinks he is the ideal opponent for Conor McGregor's rematch.
McGregor, 33 years old, is currently out of action after breaking his leg last July against Dustin Poirier.
Michael Chandler thinks that the Dubliner should be allowed to return to the UFC in the future.
He stated to MMA Fighting, "I want Conor fight just because of the magnitude of this moment."
"Stepping into that octagon, doing something really massive and fighting him in front all the mixed martial art eyeballs.
"I mean eyes across the entire globe. Fighting Conor McGregor is the best platform.
"That's what would happen to me, even if it doesn't get the title shot. I would love to see July or August."
Chandler will face Tony Ferguson, a lightweight contender at UFC 274, undercard to Charles Oliveira's defense of Justin Gaethje's title.
McGregor has been linked to a title challenge after he lost two of his three previous fights.
Chandler stated that McGregor and Ferguson should be defeated, but they should not face each other.
He stated that he would go out and beat Tony in May. After that, he will take a bit of rest, then he will be back in the ring for a July or August fight. It works perfectly.
"If he returns and doesn't get the title shot, he will have to go through someone to get it."
"I think that I'm sort of that perfect guy, ranked around No. 5. He will be crowned the champion if he wins over me.
"We'll see."
