The Notorious posted a series photos from the event that he attended with his family to his Instagram account.

He wrote: "The Mac With The Key to the City of Miami!"

"I want to thank Mayor Suarez for this great honor that you bestowed upon me and my family.

"A proud moment in my life. We are grateful to you. We will always remember your hospitality and care for our family and colleagues.

"God Bless You and This Great City!" We all can feel the spirit of Miami.

The Key to the City was presented to the former champion of two divisions. It came the day after he had sent Mater Academy Charter Middle/High School students into a state that was pandemonium.

McGregor, 33 years old, took photos with students and shared some wisdom.

He stated, "Find your passion and follow it at 100 miles per hour."

McGregor, Ireland’s first UFC champion is making a quicker recovery from fractures to his fibula and tibia.

UFC chief Dana White doesn't want to rush The Notorious into action. He said: "This child needs to heal up.

"I don’t know how fast this leg will recover.

"It will be about when he can kick again, and more importantly, when he can start taking kicks again.

"That will decide when he fights again."

McGregor admitted that despite being on the path to a quick return, he has struggled with his mental health.

Adam Glynn, a YouTuber, told him that he was "upset for a while." It was not easy, you know exactly what I mean.

"There have been some ups and downs in this [journey]
