But his follow-up strike reportedly sent ‘Burnie’ to the hospital

McGregor was brought on the court during the half-time interval and knocked down Heat mascot ‘Burnie’ with a pre-planned punch to promote his Tidl pain-relief sprain.

But his follow-up strike on the ground is said to have led to the ‘Burnie’ receiving medical treatment at the nearby hospital.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim he was transported to “the emergency room of a nearby hospital for treatment.”

Thankfully for McGregor and the Heat, Burnie was sent on his way after being given a once-over and some painkillers.

MMA fans were quick to comment on the news of McGregor hospitalising the poor mascot, with one saying: “McGregor playing the part of the Nuggets in this skit.”

Another said: “Not sure who in the Heat org thought it was a great idea to parade him out there in the first place.”

And another said: “Only KO Conor will ever get again.”

One remarked: “f you’re a mascot & get punched by a UFC Champ, definitely go to the ER and call a lawyer on the way.”

McGregor, 34, is gearing up to make his long-awaited UFC return later this year against fellow fan favourite Michael Chandler.

A date for their eagerly anticipated showdown, however, hasn’t been announced.

But The Notorious has claimed the fight will be officially announced before this season of Ultimate Fighter draws to a close.
