Cormier called the tweet, which was quickly deleted, 'a cry for help'. This assessment prompted McGregor's tweet of a photo McGregor took during last week’s UFC 265 broadcast.

The caption was: "A cry to help if I ever saw one."

The Irishman mocked Cormier's comment skills in his latest tweet.

McGregor also posted a photo of him landing a leg kick against Dustin Poirier.

McGregor, 33 years old, is currently recovering from a broken leg sustained in his UFC 264 Trilogy fight with Poirier.

UFC's first simultaneous world champion at two weight is currently in Los Angeles recovering and has promised to be more powerful when he returns to the octagon.

The MMA legend told TMZ that he was in recovery. We're recovering, sir.

"That's exactly what we are doing. It's going to take some recovery. It will take some recovery.

It's doing well, it's doing well. It's been great for three weeks and three days.

Ireland's first UFC champion will be absent for at least one year, but he is expected to return to full training next spring.

UFC president Dana White stated that Conor has been out for one year during a appearance on The Pat McAfee show.

"The doctor stated that it would take nine months for him to start training again. We're considering it a year.

"I don't even think about it."

McGregor, 22, claims that he entered his Las Vegas shootout against Poirier with multiple stress fractures in his leg.

In a six-minute Instagram video, he stated: "The leg has never been better."

"I was hurt going into the fight. People ask me when the leg was broken.

"At what point did it break?" Dana White asks. Ask the UFC. Dr. Davidson is the UFC's head doctor.

"They knew that I had stress fractures in the leg before I went into that cage.

"There was some debate about taking the thing out, because I was sparring with no shin pads, and I would kick my knee a few time.

"So, I suffered multiple stress fractures above my ankle in the shin bone and then I still have problems with my ankle after all these years of fighting."
