Conor McGregor lashed out at 'dealing with losing these fights' following Dustin Poirier's defeat, according to UFC icon Michael Bisping

After a horrific leg injury against Poirier in July, the Irishman lost his third fight in four.

McGregor continued to attack McGregor on social media in the months that followed, along with arch rivals Khabib Nurmagomedov & Nate Diaz.

However, McGregor's online fury is part of his coping mechanism after defeat, according to Bisping.

He stated to MMAFighting that "For Conor, right now, this's the best way he could deal with losing these bouts."

"I don't make excuses for him. Far from it. I was also at the receiving end some of his bulls*** recenty.

"But I believe for him to still believe -- I don't know him well, we used to talk a lot, but we don't talk anymore. So I'm not speaking from personal experience, or anything, but he must believe that the fight was competitive.

"He must believe that he would turn it around in round two if the leg wasn't broken.

"Because he doesn’t do that, and if the he accepts, 'I was getting mine kicked and probably would have been done,' then it’s a chink to the armor.

"It's becoming easier to accept that I'm not the best in the universe."

McGregor, 33 years old, is currently recovering from a broken tibia sustained in his first round against Poirier, 32.

After a successful operation, he is now ready to start training again in preparation for his return. He has already vowed that he will win UFC gold again.

However, despite such a setback and dips in results, it is possible to climb back up the mountain.

Bisping stated: "You have to think about this, he came into the UFC on this crazy tear and beat everyone, became a champ then became the second champ, made tons, was world-famous, all that."

"But now, that's all still here, the money's still available, the fame's still out, but what's missing is beating your opponents.

"The Conor I used to know, he is proud of that. There is a reason why he got where he is today.

It's not easy getting to these heights. It took years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice to win the championship.

"It's because anyone can achieve that, it's their pride and joy."
