CONOR MCGREGOR was offered a UFC return fight by Michael Chandler - though Dustin Poirier could be the first opponent.
McGregor, a 34-year-old Irishman, is getting ready to return to the octagon.
Michael Chandler offered Conor McGregor a fight in the UFC.
The Notorious is close to a return in the octagon
The injury to his leg in round one of his trilogy against Poirier (33) has kept him from competing for the title.
In stunning fashion, Chandler also knocked out Tony Ferguson.
We previously reported that McGregor, a former Bellator champion, wants to welcome McGregor back in the UFC with a box-office blockbuster.
He has now reiterated his desire to fight in what is arguably the biggest UFC fight, telling TMZ Sports: "I would like to compete against him."
"If it happens it happens. It doesn't happen, it's not. It's the fight I want."
Although he tried his best to get a fight with Notorious, the 36 year-old lightweight contender seems much more confident that Poirier might be next.
After Saturday's UFC London show, Chandler spoke to the media and stated that Poirier and he are the only two men who aren't matched up within the top five.
"It's not secret Dustin Poirier has been in a collision with me to get inside the octagon. Beneil Dariush just got matched up. It is obvious that Charles and Islam are fighting. [Justin] Gaethje is out after a nose operation and I just fought Gaethje 2 fights ago.
"I think everyone is calling out Conor McGregor -- I have called him out but I have done so in a respectful way. "Hello Conor, when you're ready to return, whenever your leg is 100% healed, whenever it's 100 percent.
"The promotion of mixed martial arts, UFC, is better with Conor McGregor. But we need to see Conor McGregor healthy inside the octagon. We won't rush him back.
Chandler said, "So I'm no longer waiting. You'll hear fight news very soon, and it could be Dustin Poirier and me. We'll see."
