CONOR MCGREGOR will 'blend’ his old karate style to his boxing-heavy tactics in his comeback fight.

Since Floyd Mayweather's boxing match in summer 2017, the UFC's poster man hasn't used his vast array of kicks much.

The Irishman, however, plans to re-incorporate his old kicks in his comeback fight

McGregor, 33 years old, is acutely aware that he has lost touch with what was once his bread and butter. He plans to return to his explosive kick game when he returns to cage late this year.

LowKickMMA was informed by him that he shadowboxes a lot and is developing a new style.

"Do you understand what I'm talking about? It's a little bit of both boxing and karate.

"A hybrid. "A hybrid.

BLAME GAME

UFC lightweights are told to "blame yourself" if McGregor wins shock title shot

"You are familiar with the clean boxing and spinning attacks.

The second fight featured more straight-boxing with no kicks. The third fight featured a bit of acrobatic martial art and no boxing.

"So I may kind of go back to blend them in again. It's all about finding the balance.

"Rent is due each day, we build, and we get better. I am happy with my ground strikes at the bottom, and I believe people will start to respect different aspects of my game.

"My shots from below, my shots at the top. There are many styles to my fighting. We'll get there, we know that. It's a marathon and not a sprint.

McGregor is currently in the final stages in recovering from the severe broken leg sustained in his fight with Dustin Pourier in July.

The proud Irishman is eager to get back in the cage and says: "There have been many achievements, but there are still many to go."

"So, I'm excited about that and I'm thrilled for my for my fans."

McGregor, a MMA mogul, has his sights set on a summer return. However UFC president Dana White anticipates that the Dubliner will be back in action in the fall.

SunSport spoke to him earlier this month, saying: "We're looking into early fall, if all goes well."
