Conor McGregor would love to fight for the welterweight title.

McGregor expressed his interest in the belt but was not stopped by Usman, the former pound-for-pound king, from having a trio fight with Rocky.

The Notorious tweeted, "I'd love to have a crack at that title somewhere down the track gimme-gimme-gimme."

McGregor, 34 years old, has fought at welterweight three times during his time in the UFC.

The Irishman lost his UFC 196 debut at 170lb to Nate Diaz in the second round.

He won his third and fourth octagon fights at welterweight. He defeated Diaz via majority decision at UFC 202, and knocked out Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds at UFC 244.

McGregor is now in the final stages in recovering from his horrific leg injury sustained in the trilogy fight with Dustin Pourier last July.

He recently admitted that his ability to kick with his left leg isn't as good as it was before the injury.

Manager Tim Simpson also admitted that the UFCs poster WON’T make a return to the Octagon this year.

McGregor told MMAJunkie that Roadhouse was a fun venture and then he would switch back to climbing the mountain.

It fits perfectly. He is still on track to make a huge return next year.

He said, "Acting was not something Conor had in his mind at the very forefront of his mind. Right now, he's still an elite athlete and his focus it to be the best fighters in the world.

"But, as the injury continues healing and he continues to prepare to make a comeback. The timing worked out well.

"It's an amazing opportunity to do a Hollywood blockbuster in the meantime, and he's going all out to win it.

"The leg is still healing. I think there's some more to do, but he has been training like madman. Twice daily, every day.

"He has been training hard and is in incredible shape, it's just the last adjustments to get his leg where it should be."
