Conor McGregor stated that 'no one follows Nate Diaz' when his rival goes down'

Just seconds before round one ended, the Irishman sustained a horrific leg injury. He had previously spent most of his time on the ground.

McGregor said that Poirier had 'backed away’ from his attacks on deck and that his mat skills have been superior to Diaz's.

He tweeted, "I'm very happy with my ground attacks starting from the bottom, at this moment. You can see that I killed the dude from below.

"He backed off from me!" I have now created a more aggressive version of Nates' ground game.

"If Nate goes down, no one follows. They won't be following me now, either. Watch!"

McGregor, 33, was defeated by Diaz, 36. The rematch took place five months later. Diaz is now a black belt at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

McGregor defeated Poirier (32), in 2014 at featherweight. It took them over six years to rematch.

McGregor was stopped in round 2, his first knockout loss in the cage.

After breaking his tibia during the trilogy decider, he suffered more misery and now suggested a FOURTH fight between the two of them with unresolved business.

McGregor wrote on Twitter: "Really horrible elbows and upkicks, for sure."

"That, or perhaps a really irritating blue bottle was around him afterwards the fight, lol.

They aren't looking forward to the future, but it is clear that they don't want to be mistaken. It will all be settled when I return. It will be settled once and for all."
