Conor McGregor has sparked speculation about his UFC comeback, hinting at a different fight date than what UFC president Dana White has suggested. McGregor was initially set to return on December 16 against Michael Chandler at UFC 296, but now it seems his comeback has been pushed back until next year.
Rumors of a December Return
Despite White's announcement that McGregor's return will happen in 2023, the Irish fighter is still eyeing a December return. McGregor recently spoke to The Mirror and said, "Yes [I'm] en route. En route, son. En route." When asked about the delay, he said, "Nothing happened. Steady on, steady on."
An Imminent Return
Although McGregor hasn't stepped inside the octagon for over two years since his leg injury in the fight against Dustin Poirier, he assured fans that his return is "imminent." He has been diligently rehabbing and transforming his body in preparation for his comeback.
Uncertainty and Waiting Game
Fans eagerly await the official announcement of McGregor's next fight, but White admitted he has no update on it. Despite the uncertainty, White is confident McGregor will fight next year. He told Piers Morgan, "He is back in the gym, he's training. And, yeah, I expect to see Conor fighting next year."

Chandler's Red Panty Night
Michael Chandler, who has been waiting patiently on the sidelines, is concerned that he might be overlooked for a more exciting matchup. However, White reassured fans that McGregor will fight Chandler as promised, calling it his "Red Panty Night." The UFC is reportedly working on scheduling the fight for early next year.
