Oliveira will take on Islam Makhachev to win the vacant lightweight title at UFC 280

McGregor vowed to billi’ walk his way to a chance at the 155lb title a month after his injury. Former champ Charles Oliveira would be willing to grant him that title if he wins UFC 280 against Islam Makhachev.

ESPN's Do Bronx said that he liked the story. It's been a long time since we asked for it in Brazil.

"I believe it will happen next Year," I really believe. This is the only reason I agreed to fight with Makhachev.

"I know that more wins equals better chances, so this is a step towards that fight.

"I would like to be able to leave the Octagon knowing exactly who I'd fight next.

"I would advise McGregor to be very careful with the words he uses [in Brazil], especially when it comes to me."

After defending the lightweight title against Poirier last December, Oliveira received a call from McGregor.

After his May submission victory over Justin Gaethje, the Brazilian said: "Dana White. You can put anyone before me.

"I don't want to choose. Hey, Conor McGregor. Are you coming up? Or will you run?

McGregor, 34 years old, accepted the offer quickly, saying that he would love to fight the Brazilian 100%!

"I love Brazil, and I'm unbeaten in Brazil. All KO's. "I have some thinking to do."

McGregor was due to return to the Octagon by the end, but he isn't able to kick properly with his left foot.

Manager Tim Simpson anticipates that he will be back in the Octagon early next year.

McGregor told MMAJunkie that he was involved in a Roadhouse remake. He said: "A fun little venture, then switching back to climbing on the mountain again."

It fits perfectly. He is still on track to make a huge return next year.

He said, "Acting was not something Conor had in his mind at the very forefront of his mind. Right now, he's still an elite athlete and his focus it to be the best fighters in the world.

"But, as the injury continues healing and he continues to prepare to make a comeback. The timing worked out well.

"It's an amazing opportunity to do a Hollywood blockbuster in the meantime, and he's going all out to win it.

"The leg is still healing. I think there's some more to do, but he has been training like madman. Twice daily, every day.

"He has been training hard and is in incredible shape, it's just the last adjustments to get his leg where it should be."
