DANIEL CORMIER believes Conor McGregor would fight Michael Chandler in his UFC Return - but should instead take the Nate Diaz Trilogy.
McGregor last fought on July 31st when he sustained a terrible leg injury in his third bout against Dustin Poirier.
Conor McGregor defeated Nate Diaz
in their rematch.
Since then, the Irishman has been in recovery and is now training to return to the Octagon.
Cormier, a former two-weight champion, named Diaz the ideal opponent for McGregor but believes Chandler will win the fight.
ESPN quoted him as saying: "Well, I have two names. I know who he should be fighting, and I know what he will likely fight.
Nate Diaz is the one he should be fighting. They should complete the trilogy. It is a huge fight.

"Both of these guys are not in the title photo right now. It's a great fight. It's a fun fight that we have seen twice. Both of them delivered.
"I believe it's evenly matched. I think he should face Nate Diaz.
"He will fight Michael Chandler, because Michael Chandler has taken UFC by storm.
McGregor (33) beat Diaz (37), in March 2016, but the rematch was lost five months later.
Since then, the pair have not been able to agree on a trilogy winner and the American has only one remaining fight under his UFC contract.
Since his debut in 2021, Chandler, 36, has been in four UFC fights.
In May, he knocked out Tony Ferguson (38), with a vicious head kick. McGregor was then called out.
Cormier, 43 years old, said: "I believe this fight works.
"I believe Chandler will engage McGregor on the terms McGregor would like to fight, and Chandler is ready to fight him at 170.
"So, I believe he should fight Nate Diaz. (But) I think he will fight Michael Chandler."
