Conor McGregor will face Nate Diaz in a blockbuster trilogy in his next fight in UFC, according to rival Colby Covington

COLBY COVINGTON predicted that Conor McGregor would fight Nate Diaz in his UFC return.

McGregor will be making a comeback in this year's fight after he has been recuperating from the injury to his leg against Dustin Poirier.

Kamaru Usman (34), was called out by the Irishman for his return fight.

Covington, who was twice defeated by Usman, believes McGregor will be able to settle the score with Diaz in a three-fight UFC fight.

He said to James Lynch, "I think Conor is gonna fight Nate. I think that's one of the most lucrative fights the UFC can make."

"It's their trilogy, I mean. They must close that chapter. I believe that's what's going to happen.

"It's the fight which makes the most sense to the UFC. And if he wants the title fight after that, then that's fine.

"He can fight for the title."

In 2016, Diaz, 36, became the first man who beat McGregor (33), in the UFC. However, McGregor lost the rematch five years later.

Fans have been waiting for a trilogy winner since then, but Diaz has one fight left on his UFC contract.

He was talking to Poirier, 33-year-old, about fighting him. Poirier is coming off two wins against McGregor, a knockout, and then the horror leg breaking.

However, if Diaz is interested in his trilogy, Covington (34), wants to fight his ex training partner Poirier.

He stated: "Nate is going to fight Conor. That fight [Poirier Vs Diaz] will not happen. He's going out to be the odd one out."

"It makes sense. Let's make this huge blockbuster pay per view for the July international fight week."
