Conor McGregor, UFC's superstar, will be "back on the mats" in the next few weeks.
In July, the MMA mogul broke his leg in a fight with Dustin Pourier. However, he quickly recovered and was able to get back to weight training.
Conor McGregor was severely injured in his UFC 264 Trilogy fight with Dustin Porier
After four months of hard work, The Notorious will resume regular training with John Kavanagh, his mentor and head coach.
Submission Radio's chief of SBG Ireland stated that he would be back in the gym in the next few weeks and be back on the mats with me.
"He is doing a lot strength training right now.
"The guys are jacked. He's probably coming back as a midweight (laughs).
"But he will be back on the floor with me soon and we'll begin with combat sports training again.
"And, he is getting some, um... I always need to choose my words here, but look, let's start with drills.
I actually laughed with him and said, "Look, I'd prefer if we just started off with some techniques, some drilling, let's watch how you go."
"And he was like, "no, I'm going do five by five, that is what I'm returning to do."
"And I'm like: Oh, great, you're right, we're back to full combat training again."
McGregor, 33 years old, is eager to be back in the Octagon once his leg is fully healed. He is also eyeing a fight for the lightweight title.
Although Coach Kavanagh does not know the ETA for Mac's return, he is certain that his most famous student will be competing next year.
He said that his most famous student was an Irish MMA pioneer: "He's very energetic, very upbeat and very excited to attack 2022."
"And I don't know when he will be back, but he will be back."
McGregor broke his left fibula and tibia during his rubber match against The Diamond. He lost the match via first round TKO.
He resumed his physical training only weeks after the terrible setback.
Audie Attar, the manager of SunSport, recently stated that the Dubliner's recovery was 'ahead-of-plan'
SunSport was informed by the Paradigm Sports Management chief: "He's ahead on schedule.
"We received our x-ray results back, but we also got our CT scan and ultrasound results.
"It's so healing to see the x-rays from my own perspective.
"He is walking now after only 10 and-a-half weeks of surgery.
"And he's doing s**t we don't want him do, like throwing the first pitch at the Cubs Game."
