Conor McGregor won't get his next LW title shot, confirms Dana White.

UFC President Dana White announced that Conor McGregor, the UFC's superstar lightweight champion, will not be next to Charles Oliveira.

Recently, The Notorious claimed that he would be 'billi-walking' into a fight against the winner of Oliveira’s UFC 269 title defense against Dustin Poirier.

White has other plans, however, for Oliveira. He plans to challenge Justin Gaethje, an interim champ at 155lb.

White answered a question about whether Gaethje, a fan favourite, was Oliveira's next choice.

UFC veteran Oliveira fought through great adversity to keep his belt by submitting in the third round.

White was also impressed by the Brazilian's heart.

Do Bronx was his favorite character. He has had his share of bumps.

Poirier is the same.

"But, like I said at a press conference the other day. They're two blue-collar men that have worked their way up to the top.

He won Dustin tonight. Dustin is a tough, durable, and well-rounded man with a lot of experience. Oliveira had a great night.

UFC plans to pit Oliveira and Gaethje, who won against Michael Chandler last month. This means that McGregor will likely face one of Poirier or Tony Ferguson in his return bout.

McGregor, 33 years old, is currently recuperating from the broken leg he sustained in his UFC 264 rubber match against Poirier in July.

The ex-two-division champion is currently aiming to return to sparring in April after his freak injury has been rehabilitated.

Ireland's first and sole UFC champion said recently to fans during a Twitter Q&A, "The fibula has fully healed."

"The medial side is also developing nice callous.

It is important to wait for the bone to break down to the side of the tibia, where the larger break took place.

"By then, a return will become imminent. But I must be patient. "I will overcome this!"
