If the Irishman is to return in the UFC's lightweight division at 155 lbs, he will need just under THREE STONE.
John Kavanagh, McGregor's head trainer, believes that McGregor can do it. He has seen McGregor transform his body many times before.
Fox Sports' Kavanagh said: "I don’t think it will prove difficult to be truthful. In the past, he has had some dramatic weight reductions.
He seems to be a good fit at 155lbs.
"The physical stage is almost complete, and you have seen his posts.
"He's been having a great Christmas, but he's ready to go back to training and prepare for another contest."
McGregor, 34 years old, last fought on July 2021. He suffered a horror fractured tibia and lost his three-fight series with Dustin Poirier via doctor stoppage.
The injury has been a constant battle for the former champion UFC two-weight. He continues to train hard and is currently recovering.
Although it is not clear who McGregor will face upon his return, coach Kavanagh suggested that Diaz might be an option.
He stated, "I'm just thrilled to see him back in that. It's always a huge event, it's not much like McGregor fight week.
"It doesn’t really matter what name you use, it’s exciting, but the Diaz trilogy would probably be a fan favorite."
McGregor is currently in Majorca, after a hard training camp.
