Fans Disappointed After Dana White's Announcement

Conor McGregor fans were left disappointed after UFC president Dana White revealed that the Irishman's return to the octagon will likely be delayed until early next year. McGregor, who hasn't fought in over two years, was set to make his comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 296 on December 16. However, his absence from the USADA drug testing pool has seemingly pushed back the fight.

McGregor's Last Fight & Recent Skid

Conor McGregor's last fight was a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in which he suffered a broken leg. This defeat marked his third loss in his last four UFC fights, with his last victory dating back to January 2020. Dana White believes that McGregor's recent skid can be attributed, at least in part, to the significant amount of money he has made in his career.

Fans Take to Social Media to Share Their Thoughts

As news of McGregor's delayed return spread, fans took to social media to express their disappointment. Many wondered if Michael Chandler will still get the "big money fight" he was expecting. Others questioned McGregor's hunger and dedication to the sport now that he has achieved financial success.

One fan tweeted, "I thought he's fighting Chandler this year?" while another simply stated, "Sucks." Another fan expressed their frustration by saying, "TF... dude was supposed to fight IFW LMAO or August [or] September now next year lol." One fan speculated, "Guess Chandler won't get that big money fight?" with another responding, "Only time will tell."

Money Changes Everything, According to White

Dana White believes that McGregor's financial success has had an impact on his recent performance. He explained, "Once a certain level of money is attained, to be the person that you were coming up, to be that hungry and work that hard and be that dedicated to the sport, or whatever craft it is you do, money changes everything." White added, "You have to have a certain type of drive to make that kind of money. And you've seen guys in this sport when they make that kind of money, they'll fight a lot less like Conor has. Or they go on losing streaks because you are not that same person once you get that kind of money."

Despite the disappointment among fans, many are still eagerly awaiting McGregor's return to the octagon and are intrigued to see if he can rediscover his winning form.
