UFC reportedly reconsidering Conor McGregor as headliner for UFC 300
There may be a change of plans for Conor McGregor's highly anticipated return to the Octagon. The UFC had initially set McGregor to headline UFC 300 in April, but recent comments from UFC president Dana White suggest otherwise. Now, MMA insider Ariel Helwani claims that the promotion is considering a U-turn on McGregor's involvement in the historic event.
Dana White pours cold water on McGregor headlining UFC 300
Dana White recently dismissed the notion of McGregor headlining UFC 300, stating that the Irishman will instead make his comeback in the summer. This announcement has left fans wondering if McGregor's return is being pushed back.
MMA insider hints at change of heart from UFC
Ariel Helwani, a veteran MMA reporter, has suggested that the UFC is reconsidering their stance on McGregor's involvement in UFC 300. During a podcast appearance, Helwani revealed that he has heard rumblings of plans changing.
Why would the UFC change their plans?
Many speculate that the UFC wants to maximize their pay-per-view revenue by having McGregor headline a separate event. Helwani believes that the UFC may be trying to find the "perfect scenario" for McGregor's return and capitalize on his star power in a different event, potentially UFC 301.
McGregor is ready to fight
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his next fight, McGregor is eager to step back into the Octagon. His head coach has mentioned a possible July return, and McGregor himself has pleaded with the UFC to give him a date. The former two-division champion is fully recovered from his leg injury and is determined to resume his career.
McGregor's message to the UFC
McGregor expressed his frustration at being kept away from fighting for nearly three years. He made it clear that he is ready to return and is willing to take on any opponent. McGregor just wants the UFC to give him a date so he can get back to doing what he loves.
It remains to be seen whether McGregor will indeed headline UFC 300 or if the UFC will choose a different path for his highly anticipated return. Fans eagerly await an official announcement from the promotion.
