Conor McGregor Challenges Manny Pacquiao
Conor McGregor, the UFC legend, has publicly called out boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, urging him to "man up" and accept his fight demands. McGregor made the statement while sitting ringside in Riyadh, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Turki Al-Sheikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority.
McGregor's Bold Demand
During the event, McGregor emphasized his desire for a future showdown with Pacquiao, stating that the Filipino boxer should "grow a set of balls" and fight him at a higher weight. McGregor also argued that he should be able to utilize all his weapons, including kicking and grappling, if he were to come down to a smaller weight.
Ronaldo's Reaction
After McGregor's statement, the cameras captured Ronaldo sharing a laugh with the UFC legend. However, fans speculated that Ronaldo was secretly terrified of McGregor, despite the lighthearted moment.
Pacquiao and Paradigm Management
Pacquiao previously signed with Paradigm Management in 2020, the same agency that represents McGregor, potentially setting up a future fight between the two. However, Pacquiao later became entangled in a legal dispute with Paradigm, resulting in his loss and being ordered to pay $5.1 million (£4m) after fighting Yordenis Ugas without the agency's involvement.
McGregor's Boxing Career
Since his 2017 loss to Floyd Mayweather, McGregor has not returned to the ring. He needed special permission from the UFC to participate in boxing and break out of his contract. However, McGregor has not ruled out the possibility of another boxing match, especially considering his relationship with Saudi Arabia and his recent appearances at boxing events in the country.
Overall, McGregor's challenge to Pacquiao has sparked interest and speculation in the combat sports world, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any updates on a potential fight between the two iconic fighters.
