Drake's Bet Backfires
Rapper Drake has reportedly lost a whopping $500,000 after placing a bet on Israel Adesanya to retain his middleweight title at UFC 293. However, Adesanya suffered a shocking defeat to Sean Strickland, marking one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.
Huge Wager, Huge Disappointment
Drake had bet $500,000 (£401,000) on Adesanya to win, hoping for a massive payout of $920,000 (£738,000) with odds of 1.84. Unfortunately for the rapper, Strickland dominated all five rounds and secured a unanimous decision victory, leaving Drake empty-handed.

The 'Drake Curse'
Drake is known for his extravagant wagers on sporting events, which have gained notoriety due to their seeming 'curse' effect. Several sports stars, including Serena Williams and Conor McGregor, have fallen victim to the so-called 'Drake curse'. YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul also experienced this curse when he lost to Tommy Fury earlier this year.
A Joking Apology
After his defeat, Sean Strickland jokingly blamed Drake for his loss, saying, "F***! This is Drake's fault! Drake, bro, why did you do this to me?" Strickland then recognized his own responsibility, acknowledging that $400,000 is insignificant to Drake, who has won much more money betting on him in the past. Strickland assured the rapper that he would get a win in the rematch.

With this latest setback, Drake's ongoing streak of unfortunate betting outcomes continues.
