PFL switch to boxing

Ngannou left the UFC last year to explore a new path in boxing and signed with the Professional Fighters League. The PFL approved the move, leading to a showdown with Tyson Fury, where Ngannou managed to drop the undefeated heavyweight boxer, only to lose in a controversial split-decision.

Return to MMA

After facing Fury's British rival Joshua and suffering a second-round knockout loss, Ngannou is now making his way back to the MMA scene. PFL boss Donn Davis revealed that Ngannou had plans to return to MMA this year, particularly after his recent boxing defeat.

Upcoming fight and event

Brazilian fighter Renan Ferreira, who knocked out former UFC star Ryan Bader in just 20 seconds in February, will be Ngannou's opponent upon his return. Sources suggest that a PFL pay-per-view event will likely take place in Saudi Arabia, with Ngannou headlining the event in the SmartCage.

Davis mentioned that Ngannou's return could happen as early as September or as late as October and expressed excitement about seeing him back in action after over two years away from the MMA scene.
