Gary Neville Accused Of Having 'Agenda" With Brutal Assassination of Arsenal Star During Sky Sports Live Commentary

Gary Neville, former footballer turned commentator, has come under fire for his scathing criticism of Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. Neville's remarks during the Gunners' 1-0 win over Manchester City have sparked accusations of bias and agenda against the Spaniard.

Neville Brands Raya "Nervous" and "Jittery"

Raya, who has been filling in as Arsenal's apparent No.1 goalkeeper after replacing Aaron Ramsdale, has been the subject of scrutiny from fans. Neville didn't hold back in his assessment during the match, describing Raya as a "nervous wreck" and "jittery" after a deflected clearance off Julian Alvarez.

Karl Henry Calls Out Neville

Former Wolves midfielder Karl Henry took to social media to question Neville's motives and criticize his commentary. Henry accused Neville of having an "agenda" against Raya and suggested that the commentator was trying to pave the way for Ramsdale's return to the starting lineup. According to Henry, Neville's words have a significant influence on fans worldwide, making it a poor choice to push a biased narrative.

Unfair Comparison to Ederson

Henry also pointed out a discrepancy in Neville's analysis. While Neville criticized Raya's performance, he seemed to overlook similar mistakes made by Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. Henry highlighted Raya's successful long passes and questioned why Neville didn't acknowledge them.

Assassination of Raya's Abilities

Henry went further to express his disagreement with Neville's relentless criticism, comparing it to a public "assassination" of Raya's abilities. While not an Arsenal fan himself, Henry urged Neville to recognize the potential damage his words can have on a player's confidence and to stop the harsh commentary.

Arsenal emerged victorious with a clean sheet, as Gabriel Martinelli's 84th-minute goal secured a 1-0 win over Manchester City. This victory propelled the Gunners to joint top of the table alongside their bitter rivals Tottenham.
