Rumors of a Shock Return
Speculation has been swirling about St-Pierre's comeback, with many fans excited about the possibility of a rematch with rival Nick Diaz. However, the Canadian fighter has dismissed these suggestions, stating that he has no plans to headline the event or step back into the octagon.
The Thrill of Competition
In a recent interview, St-Pierre opened up about his desire to compete again. He revealed that he had initially planned to participate in a grappling competition, but a November injury prevented him from doing so. Although he misses the thrill of victory and the adrenaline rush that comes with winning a fight, St-Pierre acknowledged that his hunger to be the best has faded, signaling that retirement was the right decision for him.
St-Pierre, who retired in April 2019, is widely regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. His decision to step away from the sport came after becoming a two-weight world champion and submitting Michael Bisping at UFC 217.
Dana White Shoots Down Rumors
Recently, UFC President Dana White addressed the rumors surrounding St-Pierre's potential return. When asked about calling St-Pierre, as well as former champions Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar, to gauge their interest in the UFC 300 card, White made it clear that none of those calls were made. He stated that Rousey and Lesnar were unlikely to return, and dismissed the possibility of St-Pierre making a comeback.
With St-Pierre's latest comments and White's statements, it seems that fans will have to wait a little longer to see the legendary fighter back in action. However, UFC 300 promises to be an unforgettable event, packed with top-notch matchups and incredible talent.
