MMA fans are reminiscing on Conor McGregor's approach in his historic showdown against Khabib Nurmagomedov - just over three years after their grudge bout.
The bitter rivals fought each other in the main event at UFC 229 in Las Vegas after years of trash talking and a heated build-up.
This was the highlight of Nurmagomedov's unblemished career, as he won the greatest fight in UFC history by winning the fourth round submission.
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement last October. He was dominant right from the start - even though he did give away third round to The Notorious.
McGregor's heroic efforts at T-Mobile Arena that fateful night are still etched in the minds of many. This includes his walk down of the feared wrestler.
McGregor walked straight to the Dagestani destroyer, just seconds after Herb Dean began the contest. This stunned millions of viewers around the world and shocked the crowd at the T-Mobile Arena.
This approach was in sharp contrast to Nurmagomedov’s opponents before him and the ones he faced after his legendary tussle.
McGregor's approach is highlighted by a fan who made a compilation with Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje being pressured to do the Eagle.
The video featured McGregor's prefight prediction from the UFC 229 Open Workouts. He said that it was good to be back and that he would have a "proper fight."
"I'm going out there fast. I don't care about any type of wrestling or technique.
"I'm coming after that man's head starting at the f***ing Bell. You can trust me.
The accompanying tweet to the video read: "Be honest, out of all the opponents Khabib faced, which one had the balls and walk Khabib down that way Conor did?"
MMA fans quickly commented on the clip with one saying, "Definitely Conor did his best."
"But this also shows how dominant Khabib was.
"We are grateful even when a fighter can take the centre of the octagon to him."
Another stated that Conor had survived against Khabib so long because he pressured him."
, The Notorious did not fear being knocked out.
However, some fans were quick to criticize the approach. One said: "Conor walked he down because he didn't know what he was up to."
"Conor was the victim in the Khabib's first defense of his title."
Another stated: "I believe that was as much Khabib respecting Conor’s power as any other."
McGregor, 33 years old, is currently recovering from the broken leg he sustained in his UFC 264 Trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.
Just weeks after SunSport reported that his manager had revealed that his recovery was 'ahead-of-plan', the Irishman is back on his feet and hitting the pads.
Audie Attar, chief of Paradigm Sports Management, told SunSport that he is ahead of schedule.
"We received our x-ray results back, but we also got our CT scan and ultrasound results.
"It's so healing to see the x-rays from my own perspective.
"He is walking now after only 10 and-a-half weeks of surgery.
"And he's doing s**t we don't want him do, like throwing the first pitch at the Cubs Game."
