WILLEM SMITH'S leg was broken in half during his fight against Ivan Strydom at EFC92.
The horrific injury occurred at an Extreme Fighting Championships event in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During the first round, Smith and the South African man squared off in the middle of the ring. Smith then threw a lefthand followed by a low kick towards his South African counterpart's left leg.
Strydom, however, kept his foot planted on the canvas. That is when Strydom's leg bent in half and he fell to the ground.
Smith's opponent, as well as the referee, immediately realized the extent of his injuries and he fell to the ground in pain before the official declared the fight over.
EFC commentator: "It just absolutely shatter. The leg is still hanging there.
"This sport, it's important to remember how serious this sport is. It's moments such as these that remind you that they aren't playing around.
"There is a very limited type of human that will trade or fight in a cage.
"Unfortunately, such things happen."
A social media update announced that Smith is in good spirits.
As Gareth McLellan was being stretchered backstage, the MMA fighter took a photo with him.
