ISRAEL ADESANYA is determined to bring the UFC to Africa, before he leaves mixed martial arts.
Over the past three years, MMA has seen a surge in interest from Africa. Each pay-per-view event brings more demand.
Over the past three years, there has been a surge in interest in MMA in Africa and in the UFC in Africa
.
The rise of Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou, who seized the respective titles of welterweight, heavyweight, and middleweight welterweight champions, is largely to blame.
Nigeria's Adesanya is well aware of the historic significance of the title titles and hopes that it will lead to the UFC finally landing on "the great continent".
SunSport spoke with Adesanya, a spokesperson for Stake.com, a leading cryptocurrency gaming and betting operator.
"Because Kamaru, Francis and I are doing right now is history.
"So we have to find a way to make that happen for us and our people.
"And I feel like doing the card in the continent. The great continent of Africa would be the one.
"So we'll do that. We'll make it happen, hook or by crook.
Adesanya (32), has expressed his opinions about fighting in Africa to the UFC brass. They are now ready to resume their global expansion plans after a two year Covid delay.
He isn't fain to believe that it will be easy to bring a card to the continent.
According to The Last Stylebender, "They've known it for a while so it's going to happen."
It's simply that the climates of everything need to be in sync. It will happen, so yeah.
UFC president Dana White recently hooted Adesanya's hopes of fighting in Africa, as well as those of Usman, Ngannou and Usman,
White stated last year that he believed that the idea would be huge globally and that it could attract talent from around the globe.
"You are able to see what makes sense. Africa is finally catching up.
"I'm going build a PI there."
This weekend, Adesanya will return to action in the main event at UFC 271 Houston, Texas. He'll be defending his 185lb title against former Robert Whittaker in a rematch.
He's determined to put on a better show than he did two years ago in his second round TKO win over the Aussie.
He said that he had not overlooked The Reaper the second time he was asked.
"It has actually motivated me to do it again and make it more decisive, if it's possible. It is, and I believe it.
"That's why I'm here for this fight. That's what motivated me to do it.
"Was to repeat it in a more destructive fashion."
Israel Adesanya serves as an ambassador for Stake.com. It is one of the fastest-growing and most popular cryptocurrency gambling operators in the world.
