Motivation has not been an issue for The Stylebender as he prepares to defend his fourth title. He hopes to make a bigger statement.
SunSport asked Adesanya, an ambassador for Stake.com, how he has managed to stay motivated in his second fight with Whittaker.
"It has actually motivated me to do it again and make it more decisive, if it's possible. It is, and I believe it.
"That's why I'm here for this fight. That's what motivated me to do it.
"Was to repeat it in a more destructive fashion."
Adesanya (32), will have to work hard to match his impressive stoppage of Whittaker, a former middleweight king, who has looked vibrant in his three previous outings.
Whittaker's wins over Brit Darren Till and Jared Cannonier were improved and Whittaker was back in title contention. Fans are excited about a rematch with Adesanya.
Adesanya, a passionate student of the game, has noticed improvements in Whittaker’s game, particularly his ability to combine his wrestling and striking.
UFC's second African-born champion stated that he had seen improvements in his game.
"But it isn't as drastic as you might think, or as you guys might believe." They are still improvements.
However, Adesanya believes that his own achievements in the years following their historic clash at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium are more important than those of the former champion.
He stated, "I'm more than just keeping the same." It is important to realize that I am constantly improving and growing at an accelerated pace.
"And I learn at an extremely fast pace. "So yeah, it's all good.
