Chandler beat Tony Ferguson in his last fight with one of the most iconic strikes in UFC history

MMA kingpin White is confident that the former lightweight champ is on the road to recovery.

And he would like McGregor to face off with the Missouri-native once he’s back fit.

Chandler produced one of the all-time great stoppages at UFC 274 as he put Tony Ferguson to sleep with a brutal front kick.

Talking to TMZ, White said: “I really like Chandler vs Conor after Chandler’s last fight.

“There’s plenty of fights to make. I don’t know if that’s the one.

“We’ll see what the landscape looks like when Conor gets back.

“I’m just saying after his last [Octagon] interview, his last fight, Conor’s ranked number 8.

“[Chandler’s] ranked number 5. It makes a lot of sense right now.”

While White believes that McGregor could be ready to fight again as soon as the fall.

He continued: “I think he’s getting better. He’s starting to ramp up his training.

‘IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE’

“I’m hoping the end of this year, early next year.”

McGregor recently became one of three high-profile names called out by rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev.

The unbeaten star is 11-0 after beating Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 and wants to fight either McGregor, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

Notorious continues to polarize opinion – even after being out of action more than 12 months.

He’s been named among the most HATED fighters in the UFC but also the third most LOVED along with Israel Adesanya.

Notorious was spotted in Monte Carlo earlier this summer for the Monaco Grand Prix and updated fans on his rehab.

He told Sky Sports: “The body’s doing good. I’m out here with my full team.

“Obviously I’m enjoying the Monaco Grand Prix then after that we’re going to up the training bit by bit.

“I should be able to kick now, I have another CT scan in the coming days and then I’ll be clear to kick.

“Once I can kick and grapple I’ll be back in no time. Boxing training is going well, strength training and that’s all. I’m excited to get back.”
