Sean Strickland claims UFC blocked him from accepting Jake Paul's $1 million offer to spar

Controversial MMA figure Sean Strickland has revealed that the UFC prevented him from accepting YouTube star Jake Paul's offer to spar for $1 million. Strickland, known for his outspoken nature, recently gained attention after beating streamer Sneako during a sparring session.

Jake Paul calls out Sean Strickland

Following the sparring session, Jake Paul, who has transitioned from YouTuber to boxer, called out former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Paul took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Strickland, stating that he was unable to drop someone with no experience despite going all out. Paul then offered to fly Strickland to Puerto Rico for a fight on camera, with a $1 million reward if Strickland wins.

Strickland accepts the offer and UFC chief Hunter Campbell intervenes

Strickland accepted Paul's challenge, and a back-and-forth exchange ensued between the two online. However, Strickland later revealed on his YouTube channel that UFC chief Hunter Campbell opposed the idea and pointed out that Paul does not generate revenue for the organization. According to Strickland, Paul's target audience is children who do not buy pay-per-views, which led Campbell to discourage the fight.

Strickland challenges Paul to a brawl on the Las Vegas strip

Although Strickland acknowledged that a prizefight with Paul is unlikely, he challenged Paul to a confrontation on the Las Vegas strip. In a video message, Strickland invited Paul to meet in person, stating that they cannot fight in a sanctioned bout but can have a "pow-wow" in Vegas. He even offered to do it for free, without the need for a live stream or monetary compensation.

Strickland's reputation and recent loss

Strickland has gained a reputation for his ruthless sparring sessions and has previously expressed his desire to "kill" opponents in the cage. In September, he stunned Israel Adesanya to win the UFC title but recently lost it to Dricus du Plessis via a controversial split-decision.

Paul's successful career and upcoming fight

Jake Paul, on the other hand, has achieved success in his boxing career, defeating four former UFC stars. He is set to return to the ring on March 2 in Puerto Rico, where he will face boxer Ryan Bourland, who holds a record of 17-2.
