Body Transformation and Potential Issue
Jon Jones is gearing up for his UFC 309 fight against Stipe Miocic and has opened up about a potential weakness he might face in the octagon. Despite a massive body transformation ahead of his heavyweight debut, Jones admits that his cardio may not be as strong due to adjusting to his larger frame.
Conditioning and Weight Shedding
Although Jones has shed some muscle mass since claiming the heavyweight title, he acknowledged that he could experience fatigue during the fight. He mentioned in the first episode of UFC 309 Embedded that his cardio is not as strong as before because of the increased body weight.
Performance Institute Visit
To enhance his conditioning and endurance, Jones recently visited the UFC's Performance Institute in Las Vegas. He utilized their hyperbaric oxygen chamber, known to increase red blood cells and improve cardio, to aid in his preparation for the upcoming fight.
Weight Update and Fight Preparation
Jones, who stepped into the octagon at 17 stone, seven pounds for his previous fight, has since dropped over a stone in weight for the bout with Miocic. Despite being lighter at 235lbs (16 stone and seven pounds), Jones feels confident in his decision to prioritize agility over size for this heavyweight showdown.
