Jones, 35, is using his time off to bulk up for his long-awaited move to heavyweight.

Bones hinted that his hiatus would be over at UFC 282 in December 10.

The former champion light-heavyweight was emoji'd with "UFC 282" in a tweet early Friday morning.

Jones' tweet was quickly reacted by MMA fans, one of them saying, "Please don’t play with Jon!"

Another one said, "The GOAT has returned."

Another said, "The GOAT will be here!"

Another commentator said: "Praise be Odin."

Jones was the youngest UFC champion 11 years ago when he won a thrilling third round TKO over then-champion MauricioRua.

The consensus best MMA fighter ever plans to repeat that feat when he takes on heavyweight gold.

He tweeted: "My dream, my goal is to have my very first heavyweight title bout look like my very first light heavyweight title battle." Pure domination."

Jones' absence from the cage was partly due to a public dispute with UFC brass.

SunSport announced in January that Richard Schaefer, his advisor, had resumed negotiations regarding the promotion and made significant progress in securing a deal for his client.

He stated that he was ready, willing and able fight anyone for the heavyweight title.

Jones has not fought since February 2020, when he defeated Dominick Reyes to defend the 205lb title at UFC 247.

His return has been discussed with Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic, former heavyweight champions.

Jones underwent a drastic body transformation to prepare for his debut heavyweight bout, but recently admitted that he is still "bulking up".

He stated that he doesn't feel slow and was aware that he wasn't in camp.

"But I like people judging me that way, it could only work in my favor."
