Julianna Pena incites anger by claiming that she is the UFC's first "mum" champion, because Nunes didn't give birth to her child

JULIANNA PENA outraged UFC fans just hours after her historic win over Amanda Nunes. She claimed she was the first'mom champion' because she gave birth to her daughter.

Last weekend, the Venezuelan Vixen made the biggest upset in UFC history by choking out Nunes to win the bantamweight title.

, Pena declared herself to be the first UFC'mom champion'.
However, the comments weren't well received by Nunes and Nina who have a daughter

Pena, who was elated after the fight's press conference, stated that the UFC must create a new belt. It should be the "Badest Mom on the Planet".

Amanda is my friend and I'm not trying take anything away.

"She is a wonderful mother, but she gave birth to my daughter, and I feel like, for giving birth, I am the first mom champ, which is also a feather on the cap."

These comments were not well received by fight fans who quickly pointed out that Nunes is still considered a mother, despite not having given birth to Reagan.

One MMA fan tweeted that Pena could have used the question to show respect for all mothers and claim her place as champ.

"I thought it was an ugly little jab on a deeply private level."

Another commented: "Did Pena need to call herself the "real mom champ?" Amanda is still a mother.

Another said that adopted moms are mothers. You said it yourself.

This is EXACTLY what makes a 'birthing person" make sense. Although you gave birth, she did not, you are both mothers."

Scott Fontana, MMA reporter, said that Julianna Pena was the first woman to give birth to a child and then win a UFC title.

"It is also demeaning to dismiss some moms because they didn’t/couldn’t give birth. This is a better way of saying it.

"I wasn't trying to take Amanda away at all.

"As a matter fact, I'll send it to you and I will post it on my social networks a bit later.

"Amanda, a champion in her field and a wonderful mother, is amazing." She has been since she had her baby.

Pena's defeat was Nunes' first in more than SIX years. A loss she is determined to avenge next year.
