Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has received the support of UFC legend Michael Bisping in a potential bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Promoter Eddie Hearn has hinted at a showdown between the two, and Rooney, who has a boxing background from his childhood, has the backing of Bisping. The ex-UFC champ believes Rooney's footwork, dedication, and tough upbringing in Liverpool would give him the edge over Paul.
Rooney's Boxing Background and Paul's Professional Career
Rooney, now 38, has expressed interest in getting in the ring and has been messaging Hearn about it. Meanwhile, Jake Paul, 26, has been making a name for himself in professional boxing, with a record of seven wins and one loss. Although he suffered a defeat against Tommy Fury earlier this year, he bounced back with a victory over ex-UFC star Nate Diaz. Paul is set to return to the ring on December 15, with his opponent yet to be confirmed.
Potential Showdown at Old Trafford
Hearn, who has previously worked with Paul, has voiced his desire for a fight between Rooney and Paul. Despite Rooney's limited amateur experience, Hearn believes Rooney could get back into top shape and face Paul in a match that could potentially take place at Old Trafford.
